Meet the Band

TREVOR 'Guitar Change'  CADMAN  (Guitar)

Trevor has been playing guitar for more than thirty years,
and has been in too many bands to remember. Including some that he won't admit to! His passion has always been for the blues, in all it's forms. But he has also been widely influenced by old time country, cajun, jazz and soul. His many heroes include, Ry Cooder, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Band, Bob Dylan, Hendrix, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Clapton, and of course all the early blues masters, from Robert Johnson onwards. Trevor reckons  "The blues is the roots - the rest is the fruits."

STUART  NEWMAN  (Keyboards)

Stuart played in bands until 1978. He then withdrew into the musical wilderness of his bedroom for 27 years! In 2005 he joined a covers band which provided the kick up the rear he needed to get on stage again. It only took a phone call from the Blues Shift to lure him back into the blues fold  and nothings gonna stop him now.....Stu's musical influences started with Purple - Sabbath and Prog Rock. Nowadays it's anything that gets the emotions flowing. All styles of the blues of course. Plus country, folk, blue grass, soul, motown, rock, and even some of the roll bit as well. It's all there in those gouty fingers!!!

COLIN  SEACH  (Drums)

Colin's drumming influences are many and varied.
The trouble is, they go back as far as Jim McCarty of
The Yardbirds! His first band, (or 'beat group' as bands  were then known ), was The Trojans in 1963. So he was very touched when the lads learnt the chords to The Funeral March, in case he keels over while on duty! However, he says that he could not think of a better way to go.
(Well he could, but that's a different story!)

ANDY CHAMPION  (Bass)

After practicing in various garages, developing pneumonia, and a penchant for cigarettes, Andy's first gig was back in 1966. The band opened the set with Louie Louie, followed by Wipeout, he can't remember the rest. No change there then! He says he was playing a Vox bass, with an amp that looked like it was made by a mad professor!
Andy's influences are somewhat weird. Somewhere between Laurel  Aitken and Hawkwind!
(Well he does play left handed, upside down.)

KEVIN 'STRETCH' WILD  (Vocals, Harp, Percussion)

This long lean and dynamic frontman has fronted various bands in the last few years. Recent bands include Dangerous Mood, and The BJ Ferrets, with whom Kevin supported Peter Green's Splinter Group on their last tour. From soul, to rock and blues, he still holds a passion for everything he performs. He knows how to retain the attention of the audience for the whole evening! Kevin says of  The Blues Shift line up: "Playing the blues with these guys is a real pleasure. They just know how it's done, and they make it so easy."
